Jo Flynn
Leadership Coach & Facilitator
Jo Flynn’s lifetime interest in the link between capability and consciousness was ignited when studying Philosophy at Sydney University in 1995. The years that followed were an eclectic interweaving of traditional studies, internships with specialists in the field, and rigorous action-learning with cutting-edge practitioners.
Having developed a unique change-approach she founded a successful consulting firm in 2000, the Leadership State, providing residential immersion workshops, executive coaching and mediation, and culture transformation interventions.By navigating their own developmental consciousness, clients are supported in the critical shift in thinking and behaviour that distinguishes Managing Reactively from Leading Creatively. In our volatile, complex business landscapes, leaders are increasingly required to utilise principles of engagement and connectedness (rather than the out-moded style of reliance on mandate and force), shifting from a Reactive to a Creative mindset is becoming less of an optional extra and more of a required capability.Jo’s strength is the combination of evidence-based theory and action-learning principles that she fuses to engage, inform and transform.
She supports people living up to the highest capacities of the human experience. That means awakening people to their inherent wisdom, authentic power, and compassion. The more evolved we are the more likely we are to be leading happy, meaningful, productive lives. If we support each other in that aspiration, we go further, faster and with less stress on ourselves, our workspaces, and the resources of the planet. What interests her currently is surfing the adaptive challenges that Covid has presented within our systems and structures. As she herself seems to have arrived at the simplicity on the other side of complexity, in this fascinating and rewarding time.
Some of the companies she has worked with include: Bureau of Meteorology, KPMG, Canteen for Kids, Caltex Petroleum, Vodafone, NAB, Ernst and Young, Auscoal, ATO, Wesfarmers, Tibra Capital, Wests Illawarra Club, Sony, TeleMedecine Australia, Hewlett Packard.
